Newsletter Subscribers

The following information is collected from individuals registered for the newsletter:

Course Registrants and Participants

The following information is collected when you log in to the service:

The online course software service may collect and process the following user information: (i) first and last name; (ii) email address, (iii) location when using the software service, (iv) student number or other customer reference, (v) other personal data provided by the end user, including photos (e.g., when creating a user profile), responses to exercises, comments in discussions, and other information and files added by the end user. The software service does not collect or process special categories of personal data as referred to in the EU General Data Protection Regulation.

The groups of data subjects are users of the online course, who are the students of the online course.

If, at the student's request, their information is provided to Karelia University of Applied Sciences for the accreditation of the course, the following information will be collected for this purpose:

1. Name
2. Email address
3. Personal identification number
4. Postal address

This information is used to register the course completion and to issue a transcript of records and a course certificate.

Basis for Providing Personal Data

Personal data is required to perform the tasks mentioned above by the data controller.

Processing Security

Individuals who process the data are bound by confidentiality. The obligation of confidentiality continues after the employment relationship has ended. Only those individuals who need to process the data in their work have access to the systems.

Recipients or Categories of Recipients of Personal Data

At the request of the participant, the completion of the online course is accredited by Kajaani University of Applied Sciences. The university processes the data as a provider of its own service.

Personal Data Retention Period

The online course provider does not retain personal data longer than is permitted by law and necessary for the purposes for which the personal data was collected.

Data Subject Rights

The rights of the data subject are determined by the basis of the processing. The data subject has the right to request access to their personal data from the data controller and the right to request the correction or deletion of such data, or to request the restriction of processing or to object to the processing, as well as the right to data portability. The data subject has the right to withdraw their consent to the processing of their personal data at any time. In addition, the data subject has the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The contact person for matters relating to the rights of the data subject is the Data Protection Officer.
